Design support

Our in-house designers deliver professional design work for the university and empower colleagues to create their own marketing materials.

The university’s in-house designers support the strategic goals of the Marketing and External Relations Directorate, such as student recruitment and raising brand awareness. They also create material for the wider university, including:

  • Online adverts
  • Posters and flyers
  • Event advertising
  • Promotional items
  • Exhibition stands and banners
  • Signage (digital, on university transport, etc)
  • Outdoor advertising
  • Brochures
  • Social media (with the social media team)
How they can help

Self-service
For simple jobs, please check out the range of templates on , the university’s digital library. These enable users to produce their own on-brand marketing material, including barracuda banner stands, leaflets, postcards, report covers, business cards and booklets.

If you don’t have access to Brand Centre, you can contact the for your faculty or department. Alternatively, you may find what you’re looking for in our , which has some of the university’s most popular branding collateral, such as the logo, letterheads and Teams backgrounds.

Design requests
If you have a more complex project that these templates are not suited for, you can request design support through Brand Centre.

You must supply a comprehensive brief with your design request so the designers can understand your needs and accurately schedule your job. Please fill in your design request in as much detail as you can, including specifics on the audience you want to reach.

An incomplete brief can lead to misunderstandings and delays, meaning that the designers may be unable to meet the agreed deadline.

For most projects, the production process will include two sets of proofs. All stakeholders in your team must review these before you provide collated feedback. Any changes to this process may lead to delays.

Please be aware that the designers don’t have the capacity to support all requests, so focus on projects that align with the aims of their directorate. If they are unable to help, they will suggest other forms of design support, such as outsourcing your job to a freelancer or agency.

Outsourcing design support

If you want to outsource your design project, please email content@gre.ac.uk for information on approved agencies and freelancers.

Any quote from an agency or freelancer is likely to include one or two rounds of amendments. Subsequent alterations will usually incur additional charges, so you are urged to supply final text at the outset.

Please note that a larger, more-complex project is best undertaken by our in-house designers.

You can find more guidance on outsourcing your project here.
